For a hot Monday morning, it was an impressive turnout. And as the video shows, the people out there really understood why they opposed cap and trade and socialized medicine.
As the RJ reports, there was a similarly sized rally in support of the Summit, and I got some great video footage of it as well.
You'll just have to come back tomorrow to watch the video and see the answers people gave when I asked why they supported cap and trade.
Update: Welcome Gateway Pundit readers.

Great Stuff, Very well done!
I was there my friend and I even spoke to you. You made no mention of the fact that there was also a coalition of people there in support of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid there that out numbered the people you interviewed 20 to 1. The people there in support of Senator Reid were from O of A, Move On, NEA, AFL-CIO, Sierra Club among others.
I also saw many hybrid vehicles in the lot you filmed the cars in.
Hi RSNelson,
I'm not sure what you're talking about. I did mention the other rally outside of Reid's summit in my blog post. If you had read the blog post, you would have seen the words --
"As the RJ reports, there was a similarly sized rally in support of the Summit, and I got some great video footage of it as well.

As I said (in the blog post), I'm working on the video of the other rally today and, time permitting, I'm going to have that posted this afternoon.
And there were a couple of hybrids in the VIP lot, but that doesn't dimish the irony of the non-hybrid cars.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to your thoughts on the other video as well.
I was responding to your video which was all about the people on the corner with a few seconds of the GreenTV guys. I see you linked to the RJ article stated there was equal people on both sides. But that is not what I saw when I was there for 2 1/2 hours.
What I also found interesting was that the anti cap and trade people that were also anti anything Obama are all,,, how shall we say it ,, homogeneous,,, Where as the people I were with were more of a checkerboard of colors and out numbered the don't tread on me crowd. Dare I say that the people there in support of Senator Reid looked more like the melting pot that America always has been?
I understand what you're saying about the video. I was going to do a mix of the two rallies, but I couldn't get it to work.
The Clean Energy rally leaders tried to keep anyone from talking to me and it's hard to do a mix of the two rallies when one side is proactively trying to stop people from answering questions like, "Why do you support cap and trade?" or "Why are you out here today?"
I also think you are characterizing the people who oppose cap and trade incorrectly. Granted that I don't speak for them, but many would say that they oppose government actions that limit our rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness or gov't actions that overstep its Constitutional authority.
Obama has proposed many things that do both -- cap and trade and Obamacare being the most obvious.
Since those people value our Constitutional and God given (natural) rights, they oppose Obama's proposed actions. Just like many people opposed Bush's No Child Left Behind, campaign finance reform or prescription drug handout for the same reasons.
As for the appearance of the ralliers on both sides, I have no idea. I think it's more important to remember MLK Jr's quote about judging people on the content of their character not on the color of their skin.
What exactly is Obamacare that you speak of?
What exactly has our new President done that effects your pursuit of happiness?
On the appearance of the ralliers I was there, on on side nearly 99% white and on the other side nearly 100% of every color under the rainbow. Not judging just stating the facts.
And only one man who knew you did his best to try to stop people from talking to you. Perhaps he has seen your work before? Remember I was there.
Obamacare is short hand for the public plan making its way through Congress. It's also the plan Obama keeps talking about - http://www.writeonnevada.com/2009/08/wait-so-is-obama-arguing-against-his.html
Take a look at the bailouts (under Bush too), stimulus, and nationalization of the car companies for examples of how President Obama has transfered my wealth to others. Also consider the nationalization of the auto companies and then denying the property rights (pursuit of happiness) of the bond holders -- http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124338330278956585.html.
Quickest explanation - If I trade 40 hours a week of my time and abilities for money and then government takes more than is necessary to meet its core functions, it has limited my liberty and pursuit of happiness, because it has taken what I traded my time for.
Actually several individuals went around to people and told them not to talk to me. One younger gentleman (shorter, wearing a shirt that looked like the signs) had the priviledge of following me and frantically motioning for people not to talk to me as I walked down the line. And I didn't/don't know him from Adam.
You'll see it in the next video. It may not be up until tomorrow though. Sorry for the delay.
For now I'll just assume you've made an innocent and incorrect assertion and aren't trying to twist the truth. I hope I'm not wrong about that.
I'm fascinated by your fascination with people's skin color. Isn't the goal to get to a point where skin color doesn't matter? Where it's as irrelevant as hair color?
And how will we reach that point it you (and others) constantly point out the color of people's skin and not the content of their character or the quality of their ideas?
Or am I wrong and does skin color matter?
We now Have a President that could not hail a cab in NYC. Skin color does matter. It's easy to say that it doesn't but it does. We have people alive in America today that bled on a bridge in Selma.
I have had a business associate call our President a N*&%#r to my face since January 20th right here in Las Vegas Nevada. To him and every other racist I have talked to in the last 2 years skin color still matters.
In my opinion paying taxes does not limit liberty or pursuing happiness.
You looked pretty happy walking around with your camera on Monday. You also looked very liberated.
And it's called Healthcare reform or Health insurance reform by people who are not trying to stop it.
I understand how you feel. It's kind of hard riding the bus when you no longer get to steer.
I still don't understand how some people being racists justifies emphasizing race.
I submit that deemphasizing race is a powerful way to shut down racists.
Just because you and I have some liberties doesn't mean the government hasn't limited others. Or that we shouldn't fight to stop the government from taking away other ones.
Bonus questions: What was the tax rate on tea that lead to the Boston Tea Party? And was it cheaper to buy the taxed or untaxed (smuggled) tea?
And this is the thing, I don't want to steer the bus. I want each of us to steer our own buses.
If you're interested, you should read "The Law" by Bastiat. It's short and he answers the question, "What is a just government?"
You can also find it online for free.

The Boston Tea Party was about taxation with out representation. You and I my friend have representation.
Have democratically elected officials that are accountable to us.
Perhaps you should take your protest of a foreign kings taxes to another land.
The Boston Tea Party point was to counter this argument - "You looked pretty happy walking around with your camera on Monday. You also looked very liberated."
The Founders were presented with a situation were the taxed tea was going to cost less than the untaxed tea.
Some would see that as a "pretty happy" or "pretty liberated" situation but our Founders focused on the principle of the matter. Taxation without represenation in that case. Our right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness (inculding property rights) in our present situation.
Hope that makes it more clear.
The founders also owned slaves.
And what did the founders do for the liberty of their slaves?
Did the founders slaves enjoy the pursuit of happiness?
It's clear to me that we have much more to do to prefect our union.
This comment isn't responsive to my argument.
Just because you have some freedoms, doesn't mean the government hasn't taken away others. And slaves would have known that better than most.
Which supports my argument not yours.
Just saying.
Your argument seems to be that if you pay taxes the liberty given to you by the founders is taken from you.
I say that taxes are not evil, men are.
Taxes don't take away liberty, people do.
The founders did a damn fine job beginning the experiment but the job is not finished.
