Monty Python meets President Obama meets healthcare

President Obama meets health care meets Monty Python = Bring out your deadSo funny. It'd be funnier if it weren't so true. If you don't get the parody, there's a clip of the "I'm not dead yet" scene after the jump.

For more something for substantive, but not as funny, take an international tour of wait times in countries with socialized medicine.

And the good news is that the soon-to-be proposed public plan will only cost $4 trillion over the next 10 years.

The current health care "reforms" would be the ultimate lose-lose — destroy the greatest system of health care and medical advancement in the world while putting us trillions more dollars in debt.

(Slight language warning for a bad word at the end of the clip)

Depends on how you define "greatest system of health care and medical advancement in the world"

Lets look at --- oh anything
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/adult-mortality-rate.html
dead last

http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/healthy-life-expectancy.html

oops dead last again

How about
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/infant-mortality-rate.html
Well, dead last again

How about:
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/adult-obesity.html
Again last

Chastity does not seem to work well
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/adolescent-fertility-rate.html

Now this:
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/maternal-mortality-rate.html

dead (as in dead) last again

and we do this by spending more than anybody else
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/total-health-expenditures.html

including priate spending
http://www.the8things.com/2009/04/private-health-expendatures.html

Not only are we not the best, but among the first world, we are dead last

Now there are several explanations for this. Since republicans only see white people at their meetings, maybe they mean that if you eliminate all those dark colored people from the statistics, that we would be the best. But I doubt that.

Maybe the poster has a different definition of best, than what most people have. Maybe he thinks that we are all stupid and authoritarian and will just blindly accept what he says as the gospel.
(see my blog on this problem)

My take. This poster is one of the reasons why Democrats own the country now.

Doug - I can't tell if you're interested in debating the issue or just spamming for your website.

If you'd go back and examine your own links you'll notice that health care is only a (very) small factor in them. Take the first one - adult mortality rate (death between 15 and 60). No mention of health care or dying because of health care. People die for lots of reasons completely unrelated to the health care they receive.

If you're interested in reading some more on why the US has the best medical system in the world I encourage you to read this article - http://www.thefreemanonline.org/featured/ranking-the-us-health-care-system/?utm_source=In+brief&utm_campaign=f8cee48ef6-In_brief_6-24-2009&utm_medium=email and this blog post - http://hotair.com/archives/2009/06/28/canadacare-sends-baby-to-us-for-treatment/

The article talks about the biases that downgrade the US in health care rankings. For example the US system is downgrade because it's not socialized.

The blog post is one story of thousands about how a Canadian had to come the US to get care, because there wasn't room in Canada.
